How To Boost Your S.E.L.F Confidence

SELF confidence

S.E.L.F - Skin Eyes Lips Face

Self-confidence is built from the inside out. It’s understanding who you are, what makes you individual and embracing your uniqueness. At Galderma, we’re all about empowering beauty in all forms - and that means empowering you to be your best version, in whatever form that makes you feel good.

When building self-confidence, we understand that how you look can have a big impact on how you feel. Whether it’s a long-term struggle or a new concern that’s revealed itself on your face or body, your self-confidence can take a hit if you don’t feel like you look your best.

To help you get that extra boost of self-confidence and help you feel more comfortable in your own skin, we’ll take you through some of the ways to treat common skin concerns you may have. We divide our tips into a S.E.L.F framework that will address our everyday questions across skin, eyes, lips and face.

SKIN

Concern: Fine lines and wrinkles.

Treatments: As we age, our skin can lose its elasticity and firmness, which causes fine lines and wrinkles to become more visible. Signs of ageing can begin to show even from our early 20s, and it’s best to start treating the symptoms as soon as they appear (or even before then to prevent these concerns).

  • Hyaluronic acid: A naturally occurring ingredient in our skin cells, hyaluronic acid works to maintain moisture levels in our skin. When applied topically or via injection, it can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to reveal a plumper, more radiant base.¹ Our Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ offer refreshed and radiant look by boosting skin elasticity and hydration, resulting in a noticeable reduction of its roughness.

  • Reduce sugar intake: High sugar intake can contribute to the reduction of collagen and elastin in your skin. The process of your body breaking down sugars (glycogen) can damage these fibres and expedite the ageing process. A healthy, balanced diet is a great way to prevent the onset of fine lines and wrinkles.²

  • Anti-wrinkle injections: Aesthetic treatments can also help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. They involve using a toxin called botulinum toxin, injected into the area of concern to relax the muscles associated with crow's feet and frown lines. A qualified healthcare practitioner can provide more information on approved aesthetic indications for botulinum toxin.

EYES

Concern: Dark circles and tired eyes.

Treatment: Lifestyle factors, genetics, age and stress can all contribute to tired-looking eyes and dark circles. No one wants to be plastering layers of concealer under their eyes every day, so we have some tips for waking up feeling and looking well well-rested

  • Get your beauty sleep: It’s no secret that the key to looking rested is… actually getting rest! Seven to nine hours per night is the recommended dose of sleep, but the key is sleeping all the way through.³ Avoid electronics an hour before bed and try a pillow scent so that you can get the best rest possible. For those in need of extra help from aesthetic products, Restylane® is a great filler for the treatment of the tear trough area that reduces dark under-eye shadows and grooves and stops your eyes looking tired.

  • Hydration: Water, water, water! Drinking plenty of water can help with many skin concerns. If you’re noticing hollowed or sagging eyes, give your skin the hydration boost it needs by drinking the recommended 8 cups daily for women and 10 cups for men.⁴

  • Dermal filler: Consider a hyaluronic acid-based filler for fast results. Fillers around your eyes can help reduce dark circles and are a great treatment if you haven’t seen results with creams, hydration and sleep. A qualified healthcare practitioner can provide more information on the best treatment.

LIPS

Concern: Thin and dry lips.

Treatment: When it comes to the structure and make-up of your lips, how they look is generally a result of genetics, but there are a few things you can do to enhance the plumpness and hydration of your lips.

  • Overnight lip treatment: If you suffer from dry lips, try an overnight lip treatment so that you wake up with moist, kissable lips. There are several options on the market, but generally, simple is best.

  • Overline your lips: Lip liner is your friend when it comes to achieving a plump look. Try taking your liner slightly outside of your lip line (not too far) to enhance the size of your lips.

  • Lip filler: Lip filler is the favourite of many celebs and influencers, and it’s not hard to see when you can achieve such natural-looking results. Book in with a healthcare practitioner to discuss if this is the treatment your lips are looking for! Our Restylane® KYSSE™ is a filler that has been developed to create beautifully full lips. It consists of a hyaluronic acid gel that is soft and flexible so that your lips move and feel natural.

FACE

Concern: Lack of symmetry and definition.

Treatment: Let’s face it, we all have facial asymmetries. Literally every single one of us. It is what gives our face character and adds to our unique looks. Still, some people may feel uncomfortable about them, and there’s nothing wrong with getting a little help to enhance our natural beauty. So here’s what you can do to address them.

  • Facial massage: Massage is a popular beauty trend that can help to encourage lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness and help improve symmetry. Some claim that performing regular facial exercises such as forming an ‘O’ shape with your mouth and smiling with pursed lips can help to tone facial muscles.⁵

  • Dermal fillers: Fillers can enhance facial symmetry by adding volume to certain areas of the face. There are softer and harder fillers used in different areas of the face to restore volume and improve projection - speak to a healthcare practitioner to learn what’s best for you. In our portfolio, we offer options for patients in search for a refreshed look. Restylane® LYFT™ is our firmest dermal filler and is suited for lifting the cheeks, enhancing the jawline or chin, or reducing the appearance of wrinkles.⁶ If you have a thinner tissue coverage, Restylane® DEFYNE™ could be preferred as it is slightly softer and more flexible.⁷
