How does Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ work?

 

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that has a unique ability to bind water, keeping your body tissues soft, hydrated and flexible. Natural hyaluronic acid in the body quickly forms and degrades (in 24-48 hours), diminishing the skin’s hydration.23

 

Thanks to Galderma’s SB-NASHA™ technology, Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is the closest to natural stabilized hyaluronic acid you can get to improve natural skin structure and hydro-balance from within. Its unique crosslink technology allows for long-lasting optimization of the extracellular matrix, boosting your body’s own hyaluronic acid, elastin and collagen quality for enhanced skin health and distinctively remaining within the skin for up to 15x longer than non-stabilized injectables.1,2,5,6,12,17-19

Your Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ treatment regimen

After consulting with your aesthetic practitioner, you will start with 1-3 treatment sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Treatments require minimal downtime, and you’ll be enjoying your refreshed, natural glow almost immediately.21,22

 

After treatment, you may notice some slight redness, swelling, itching or tenderness at the injection site, but these reactions are generally mild to moderate and get better within a few days. After these initial treatments, a maintenance treatment is recommended every 6-12 months to ensure lasting results.20-22

Make sure that you contact a clinic with qualified practitioners to ensure that your treatment will be performed correctly. Your treatment should be performed in a medical environment that provides privacy and is spotlessly clean. You can always request to see training certificates and insurance certificates to ensure that your healthcare practitioner has received the appropriate training and is insured for the treatment.

Only medically qualified practitioners should perform treatments with Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™. Depending on the legislation in your country, this may include plastic surgeons, cosmetic clinicians, dermatologists, cosmetic dentists, or aesthetic nurses. If in doubt, please see our list of certified clinics/practitioners close to you.

You will always have a consultation before your first treatment. Think through what you want to achieve and the questions you may have. Your healthcare practitioner will inform you how Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ can be used safely to improve skin quality and give you healthy, glowing skin. When you leave your consultation, you should feel well-informed about Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ and know what results to expect.

Your healthcare practitioner should provide you with comprehensive information and give you a detailed explanation regarding your treatment.

This is what you should expect:

  • Information about the possibilities and limitations of the treatment
  • Information about precautions for treatment and possible side effects
  • Information about the cost of the treatment and maintenance treatments
  • That your questions are answered to your full satisfaction

Patients with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid based products should not undergo treatment, nor should patients with bleeding disorders, or active skin disease such as inflammation, infection or tumors in or near the area be treated. Discuss side effects, warnings, and precautions with your healthcare practitioner before treatment with Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™.

If you have skin laxity and sagging, combination treatment with Sculptra could be beneficial for you. Please ask your healthcare practitioner what treatment will give you the best results. 

Please note that Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is recommended for people who are 18 years or older.

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ has not been tested for pregnant women. There is also no data available on Restylane® and breastfeeding.

Your healthcare practitioner will disinfect the area that will be treated. Tiny droplets of hyaluronic acid will then be injected just below the skin surface through a fine needle to enhance your skin quality. Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, will take away most of the discomfort that you may experience during the treatment.

Some people may experience mild discomfort. Most Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ products contain a local anesthetic, lidocaine, to make your treatment experience more comfortable. You and your healthcare practitioner may decide whether additional pain relief is needed.

Depending on the area, a treatment takes approximately 15-45 minutes. After treatment you will receive post-treatment guidelines from your healthcare practitioner.

It is normal to experience some discomfort, such as redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the treatment site. These side effects generally disappear within one week after injection. Make sure that you discuss potential treatment risks with your healthcare practitioner.
