Challenges that lead to dry, parched skin

Maybe you’ve heard about skinbooster treatments and that they can improve your skin quality and skin elasticity?1-4 Or maybe the concept of a skinbooster treatment is new to you. In any case, the idea that we need to boost our skin is perhaps not an odd statement. Many of us live in an environment that can have a visibly negative effect on our skin. Dry indoor climates, soaps and detergents, stress, poor diet (maybe your intention was to eat healthily but with all the stress it didn’t work out that way), excessive sun exposure – our skin has to cope with a lot on a daily basis. Add to that the fact that none of us are getting younger!

All of these factors can lead to dehydrated skin, with reduced skin elasticity, and the skin starts lacking the healthy glow that it once had.5,6

“When I look at my skin in the mirror, I feel very dry and nowadays I also feel like I don’t recognize myself anymore. I look tired even if I don’t feel tired.”

- Jenny, 44

So, what can we do about poor skin quality?

Regular exercise, a healthy diet, water and enough sleep are important – but we might still not see the results we want. So, the concept of something that boosts our skin quality and improves our skin elasticity and hydration from within can really help. But what really is a skinbooster and how does it work? And what results can you expect from a skinbooster treatment?

What does skin quality mean to you?

Why should I try Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™?

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is an injectable treatment that provides hydration from within, below the skin surface, to gradually restore skin elasticity and skin quality.1-4 The treatment is tailored for skin that looks aged, or that feels dry or rough.1,3,7-10

It can be difficult to achieve hydrated skin by treating the skin surface. Likewise, you might belong to those who drink a lot of water but still feel your skin is dehydrated and rough and that your skin elasticity is not what it used to be.

“Five years ago, I could feel my skin was more… there was more like a fullness in it, now it feels much thinner and I can see the small lines, so it’s quite a big difference. It was more like… the plumpness before.”

– Mikaela, 30

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ restores the natural composition of the skin with injections of hyaluronic acid below the skin surface, for deeply hydrated skin and improved skin elasticity.1-3

Do you want to talk to an expert about your skin quality and how to get more hydrated skin?

How can HA injections provide hydrated skin?

Hyaluronic acid, HA, is a water-loving molecule that provides hydration underneath the skin’s surface to the structure between the skin cells. Hyaluronic acid naturally decreases as we age – leading to decreased skin volume and an increased tendency for wrinkles and skin laxity.11 Therefore, hyaluronic acid is vital for healthy hydrated skin and skin elasticity that gives you a fresh, natural radiance.1-3,11

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is an injectable treatment that does not fill or volumize. It contains microdroplets of stabilized hyaluronic acid to build the foundation for more hydrated skin. Unlike natural hyaluronic acid, stabilized hyaluronic acid lasts much longer and stays in your skin for several months (see the facts box below to learn more).12

“You can use all of the miracle skin creams in the world and obviously try to eat well, and drink lots of water, but I found there was never a glow I could quite achieve as the glow that I managed to obtain after about three weeks after I had the first treatment.”

– Courtney, 42

What is Hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies. It is actually a polysaccharide, a sugar molecule, that forms long chains that quickly form and degrade, in one to two days. The hyaluronic acid keeps our body tissues – not least our skin – hydrated, flexible, and soft.

When non-stabilized hyaluronic has been injected into the skin, scientists have noticed that it quickly disappears. When stabilized hyaluronic acid is injected it stays in the skin for much longer and gives a much more long-lasting effect.12

When hyaluronic acid is stabilized, a specific technology is used to create cross-links between the long hyaluronic acid molecule chains. This way, the hyaluronic acid molecules form a network that the body’s own enzymes can’t break down as quickly as non-stabilized hyaluronic acid. Still, the molecule is very close to natural hyaluronic acid in the body. In fact, the stabilized hyaluronic acid in Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is more similar to the composition of natural hyaluronic acid than any other similar product on the market.13,14

Not just words – clinical studies have proven the effect of Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™

When Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ has been tested in clinical studies, it has been shown to restore the natural composition of the skin by boosting a more hydrated skin and improving skin elasticity.1-3 In other words, there is scientific evidence that this is a treatment that really improves skin quality.1-4

For an aesthetic treatment, Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ has a very solid scientific foundation. Studies show that the treatment refreshes the appearance of aging skin on the face, hands, neck, and décolletage.1,3,7-10 More specifically, the studies have shown that Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™:

- Improves skin elasticity3
- Decreases skin roughness8
- Improves skin hydration

The advantage of Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is that it provides hyaluronic acid to the skin below the skin surface, exactly where it is needed to improve skin quality.4 Since it uses stabilized hyaluronic acid, the treatment is much more long-lasting than using non-stabilized hyaluronic acid.12

Did you know that more than 6.5 million treatments have been performed with Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ to date?15

The advantage
A treatment with

A treatment with Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ - what does it look like?

During the treatment, microdroplets of stabilized hyaluronic acid are injected into the skin over a larger area.

Your healthcare practitioner can use different injection techniques to spread Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ evenly in your skin. The treatment takes somewhere between 15-45 minutes depending on if you treat just one area or all (face, neck, décolletage, and hands).

In the skin, the hyaluronic acid microdroplets integrate to form a blanket of hydration that gradually improves skin elasticity and smoothness.1-3,11

Remember to always consult a healthcare practitioner who has appropriate qualifications for your treatment.

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ - is this treatment right for me?

This is a treatment for everyone with skin that feels dry or rough, that looks aged, or has lost its elasticity. The treatment is also suitable for younger skin to prevent dryness and roughness and to maintain smooth, radiant, and hydrated skin.1-3,7-11

A great benefit of Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is that it can be used not only on the face but also on the neck, décolletage, and hands.1,3,7-10 These areas also have high sun radiation exposure and are often neglected, giving an aged or dry appearance.

“A lot of treatments are focused on the face, but then if you don’t have the décolletage and the neck and the hands equally to match, you kind of almost make your neck look older because your face looks so smooth.”

- Courtney, 42

Will it hurt?

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic that reduces most of the discomfort. Your healthcare practitioner can also apply a local anesthetic on the skin surface before the treatment.

How many treatments do I need?
Three simple steps to a lasting glow

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ improves skin quality for real.1-4 If you want real results you have to respect that your skin needs some time. The great thing about Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ is that you only need three simple treatment steps, 2-4 weeks apart, to get that lasting, radiant, hydrated skin. 1,3,8,9,12,16-18

After this you just need a single maintenance treatment every 4-6 months. Say hello to hydrated skin!

“My skin feels much more hydrated, my hands feel super soft and moisturized. And the fine lines from my mouth also disappeared, and I think we deserve to be the best version of ourselves.”

– Anna, 41

Can I go right back to work and wear makeup after my treatment?

After the treatment you might experience some discomfort such as redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising and tenderness at the treatment site. The described discomfort is the side effect expected after a treatment. They are usually mild and disappear after a few days to one week. 2,3,11,19-21 Your healthcare practitioner will give you advice on how to take care of your skin after the treatment. Typically, they will advise you that you can go back to work directly, but avoid applying makeup the first 24 hours after treatment.

What results can you expect?

The good thing is – you can expect a lot. As already mentioned, Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ has been thoroughly investigated in several clinical studies. The treatment has been shown to improve skin quality, giving you a more hydrated skin with better skin elasticity.1-3 Of course, treatment results vary from person to person, but here are some of the benefits that physicians and patients have noticed in the studies:

– Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ restores the natural composition of the skin, boosts hydration, and improves skin elasticity.1-3
– It provides a long-lasting effect with more hydrated skin and improved skin elasticity.1-3
– 96% would like to continue or repeat the treatment.16
– Physicians noted that Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ gave a smoother, more radiant looking skin.11

“I still look like myself, just like a few years younger.”

– Mikaela, 29

Also, 91% thought that the treatment improved their self-esteem.1 So, not only can the treatment give you a more hydrated skin that is smoother with improved skin elasticity.1-3,11 It has also been shown that it can make you feel better about yourself.1 Taking care of your skin and improving skin quality can in other words be important for many reasons.

Can I combine Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ with other aesthetic treatments?

Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ can of course be combined with other skin treatments. It can also be combined with for example filler treatments. Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ belongs to the RESTYLANE® portfolio of hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid can be used not only to boost skin quality4, but is also the ingredient used in fillers for those who want to refine specific facial features.
